Indian Single Malt Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 57.1%
A classic early editionof Amrut Intermediate Sherry, this is Batch 6 which was released in 2012 and is bottled at 57.1%, equivalent to 100-proof in the old Imperial system.
The irrepressible Amrut distillery are constantly innovating and coming up with clever maturation experiments - perhaps necessitated by the fact that due to the climate their whisky can only be aged for a few years before the Angel's Share has swallowed the whole cask.
For Intermediate Sherry, Amrut transfer whisky from ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks into fresh Oloroso sherry butts for a secondary maturation, before switching the spirit back into ex-bourbon casks for further ageing. It sounds crazy, but the results speak for themselves - Intermediate Sherry is one of Amrut's best whiskies.
