This Speyside single malt Scotch whisky was first matured in American oak wood barrels and then finished in organic rye quarter casks from Chicago's Koval Distillery and bottled at 48%.
The liquid to wood ratio is greater in quarter cask maturation and so the flavour is released more rapidly.
The new Wood Finish Series from Glenallachie contains bottlings of their finest malts finished in various cask types. The casks for these finishes have been sourced from niche producers around the world by Glenallachie Master Distiller Billy Walker.
