An intriguing gin from Amarula, a brand more familiar to most folk as the home of a fruity South African cream liqueur made with the Marula fruit - also known colloquially as elephant fruit, which is why it has the elephant on the label.

The crucial point of difference for Amarula's gin is that its base spirit is actually made with fermented and distilled Marula fruit rather than a neutral grain or potato spirit base. The botanicals, however, are very traditional, with grains of paradise, orange peel, orange blossom alongside the juniper making this 43% South African gin a treat.
