A large batch official bottling of Ardnamurchan 2018 matured entirely in sherry casks and released in summer 2023 without colouring or chill filtration.
The cask recipe for this Ardnamurchan release is a mix of unpeated and peated Ardnamurchan, with the cask recipe comprising 10 Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts of peated whisky vatted together with 15 American and Spanish oak hogshead casks of unpeated spirit.
This Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask release has been bottled at a potent butpalate-friendly 50% and should be an absolute gem.

Nose: Murray mint, bonfire on the beach, salted peanut ice-cream, tomato stalks, Brazil nut and sundried tomatoes.
Nice overall but bit too much peat mixed in for my taste.

Good, but not the best
There are a lot of better and cheaper sherried single malts. This one is decent, but too young and I think this is overpriced. I wouldn't buy another bottle of this young single malt at this price level.

Another cracker from Ardnamurchan
This is an intense and robust expression. Plenty of dried fruit on the nose, gentle peat and dark red fruit...like the colour. On the palate, more dried fruit and dark cherry, a rich nuttiness and subtle earthy smoke meaty note held together with a sweet rich sherry and spices. Wow, lovely whisky!!!

Yes, a lovely expression from Ardnmurchan. As young as it is (5yrs old I believe), it tastes twice its maturity!
