Blended Scotch Whisky
Bottled By: White Horse Distillers / 70 Proof

A wonderful old bottle of the iconic White Horse blended whisky, this bottle was released in 1958 at 70 proof (40%). The White Horse blend was created by Lagavulin's owner Peter Mackie in the 1880s and named after his family's pub in Edinburgh, from where one could get the overnight coach to London.

White Horse Distillers was a subsidiary of Diageo forerunners DCL by the time this blend was bottled, but retained the license for Lagavulin, Craigellachie and Glen Elgin distilleries, and these were the main ingredients for the malt component of this blend - though there's also likely a little Malt Mill in these 1950s bottlings, as the distillery was still operational at Lagavulin until 1962.
