A wonderful old bottle of Hazelwood Reserve, the first in the Hazelwood series. Hazelwood Reserve was bottled at 90 proof (around 51.4%) by William Grant from a vatting of 90 casks to mark the 90th birthday of Janet Sheed Roberts in 1991.
Mrs Roberts, who was born in 1901, was the last surviving grand-daughter of Glenfiddich founder William Grant, and further Hazelwood whiskies were released for her 100th, 105th, 107th and 110th birthdays. Mrs Roberts was the oldest person in Scotland when she passed away in 2012 a few months before her 111th birthday.
These Hazelwood Reserve bottles were never commercially available - the bottles were gifted to friends of the family and William Grant employees and are truly hard to find nowadays.
This was the original Hazelwood whisky from Grant's, which was a blended whisky and should not be confused with the later bottlings of Kininvie single malt whisky which were also bottled under the Hazelwood name. This bottle of Hazelwood Reserve comes in its original presentation tube and remains in excellent condition.

2 bottles of this lovely single malt were bought as gifts. Sampled a couple of drams from one bottle and it went well above expectations. The quality, integrity, natural colour, cask strength ABV and value-for-money made these bottles 'no-brainers'.
Present us with more of these quality bottles at fair prices...and we'll buy more.
This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
