Indie bottlings of Glengoyne are relatively rare, so it's a joy to see this 12-year-old Glengoyne 2008 bottled by Douglas Laing for their Old Particular series. Douglas Laing never colour or chill filter their single malts, so you can be assured that this whisky's lovely golden colour is all natural.
Glengoyne 2008 Cask #DL15409 was a refill sherry butt, bottled as a 12-year-old in October 2021 (just shy of its 13th birthday), and yielded 539 bottles at the standard Old Particular strength of 48.4%. This should be an absolute gem.

Nose: Full of dark then red fruit, from its sherry cask history, plus a subtle array of burnt spices and malt.
Palate: Chewy and intense, with fruit-flavoured toffee, wonderful spices, burnt toast and a hint of mint.
Finish: Big on dried citrus, running to a gristy sugar-inclined malt, graduating to a late dry mixed spices.

2 bottles of this lovely single malt were bought as gifts. Sampled a couple of drams from one bottle and it went well above expectations. The quality, integrity, natural colour, cask strength ABV and value-for-money made these bottles 'no-brainers'.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
