Batch 4 of Adelphi's splendid Laudale, this 12-year-old Glen Elgin single malt whisky was released in November 2020.
Adelphi's Laudale is a very occasional small batch bottling - just five editions have been released since 2009. Thus far, all the Laudale releases have been 12-year-old sherry-matured Speyside drams bottled at 46% - this Glen Elgin from Batch 4 was a small batch of first fill oloroso sherry hogsheads selected and approved by Adelphi's Chief Nose, the peerless Charles MacLean, and was an edition of less than 1500 bottles.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
