Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 50%
Black Bowmore 1964 29-year-old was the first, and for many people remains the greatest, of the iconic Black Bowmore 1964 releases that catalysed the emergent luxury whisky market. Hyperbole is difficult to avoid for these famous whiskies, but it's obvious that the whisky market would look very different today if Black Bowmore had never existed.
Distilled in 1964 and bottled in 1993 at 50% after 29 years of maturation in a legendary batch of near-perfect sherry casks, the first edition of this beautiful whisky was a remarkable swirling concentration of tropical fruit and chewy peat on a bed of pristine Oloroso sherrywood. Even decades later, drinkers who last tasted this whisky in the '90s will recall its extraordinarily blend of power and complexity.
Black Bowmore 1964 is an all-time classic that galvanised a legion of whisky drinkers and set the tone for a decades-long obsession with smoky Islay whisky, sherry casks and everything in between that dominates the market to this day.

A surprise at the price, I found this dram eceeto be smooth with a good smoke finish, marked at 4 stars because although it was easy to follow with another glass or two it just lacked a little body. I shall buy another bottle of this
