An 18-year-old Pittyvaich 1977 bottled at cask strength in 1996 by Cadenhead's for their Authentic Collection. Pittyvaich is getting rather rare nowadays, and with very few new editions being bottled it seems that the remaining casks will soon be exhausted.
The short-lived Pittyvaich distillery was built on the grounds of sister distillery Dufftown in 1974 to supply malt whisky for the Bell's blend, but soon fell victim to the downturn of the 1980s. After becoming part of United Distillers, Pittyvaich was closed for good in 1993 just a couple of years after its first official bottling, a sherried 12-year-old for the Flora & Fauna series.
