Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 43%
An old bottle of Rosebank Flora & Fauna 12-year-old, bottled by UD/Diageo when they were still owners of this Lowland gem. This lovely Rosebank was one of the most popular of the Flora & Fauna range but was discontinued after the 2006 edition in the face of rising cask prices and widespread (but mistaken) certainty that the distillery would never reopen.
The received wisdom about Rosebank's spirit used to be that it always peaked young, and that anything over 12 years maturation was too much for this most gentle and creamy of Lowland spirits. This myth was exposed in the early 1990s when the likes of Signatory and Cadenhead's were bringing out spectacular 1960s Rosebank vintages, and was proven nonsense by the turn of the millennium when fabulous Douglas Laing, Rare Malts and, later, the excellent Diageo Special Releases 21-year-old Rosebank all appeared.
What's not in doubt, however, is that Rosebank can definitely be ready early, and that young Rosebank can be absurdly good. The Flora and Fauna Rosebank 12-year-old provides ample evidence of this fact, and with Rosebank's revival underway the new owners Ian MacLeod Distillers and all fans of this wonderful single malt are rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of new young Rosebank, which should be with us inside the next decade or so.

This is beautiful! Decent sherry hit, lots of dark fruit, leaning towards ripe plum for me. Hit of mint too which I find more in heavily sherried bottles. Very decent abv. Let's face it, if it was bottled by the (m) distillery in this presentation it would cost £300/£350 minimum. Will be treating myself to anoulther shortly 😁
