A 1968 Macallan 34-year-old bottled in 2002 for Murray McDavid's highly sought-after Jim McEwan's Celtic Heartlands series at its naturally low cask strength of 40.2% - they really caught this just in time!
This Macallan 1968 34-year-old was the first ever Jim McEwan's Celtic Heartlands bottling released (the series ran until 2010 with about two dozen bottlings from a range of distilleries) and was assembled from a small batch of ex-bourbon casks, still relatively unknown for Macallan at the time. An absolutely outstanding dram with a deliciously elegant palate and impressive oomph for the strength.
