Baron de Sigognac is a single estate armagnac producer, meaning that everything from growing the grapes to making the wine to distilling and ageing the spirit is owned and managed in-house.
This freedom and independence enable Baron de Sigognac's father and son production team to exercise complete control over their house style and character, which tends, at these great ages, towards smooth but spicy, leathery, fruity spirit.
Here we have a bottle of Baron de Sigognac's 1972 vintage Bas Armagnac, drawn from the family's reserve cellars and presented in a sturdy wooden gift box. The perfect present for any spirits fans from this vintage - and unlike the vast majority of whiskies from this era, it won't break the bank.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
