A 1984 Domaine de Cantau 39-year-old Bas Armagnac bottled in 2023 at 49% without colouring by negociants Darroze, France's foremost bottler of single estate vintage armagnacs.
Restaurateur Francis Darroze started his Armagnac negociant business in the 1970s; today, Darroze Armagnac is run by his son Marc, while his daughter Hélène is a chef with six Michelin stars to her name, including three for her signature restaurant at The Connaught hotel in Mayfair.
No-one does Armagnac - particularly Bas Armagnac - like the Darroze family, and their minimal interference policies make their bottlings a great value alternative for whisky fans.
