Glenlivet Founder's Reserve was first introduced into the distillery's core range in 2015 as an alternative option to Glenlivet 12-year-old. The latter was withdrawn from some markets for several years as mature casks of Glenlivet were running low in the days before the many recent capacity expansions had boosted the distillery's output and replenished aged stocks.
Glenlivet Founder's Reserve is matured in American oak casks - many of them first fill ex-bourbon - and bottled at a very approachable 40%, and since the 12-year-old has become available again Founder's Reserve has really found its niche as an easy-drinking epitome of the lighter, bourbon-matured Speyside single malt whisky style.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
