An old 75cl bottle of 1985 Glenrothes bottled at 43% in 2005 just shy of its 20th birthday. Glenrothes has often done things slightly differently to everyone else, whether it's filling their casks at full strength without dilution or, as they did for many years, releasing whiskies that highlighted vintages instead of age statements.
Glenrothes was on a great run of form in the early years of this century, and this delightful sherried 1985 vintage edition was one of the standout bottlings in the distillery's vintage series of the day.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
