Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 61.3%
An old bottle of the famous Glenury Royal 1971 Rare Malts Selection bottled as a 23-year-old by United Distillers in 1995 at its mighty cask strength of 61.3%. This is the famous edition that won Best Single Malt Whisky at the 1996 International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Almost uniquely among the Rare Malts, this 1971 Glenury Royal had a strongly sherry-influenced style and was a revelation to many whisky fans who had yet to experience the distillery's delights - though sadly Glenury had already been closed for a decade before this edition hit the shelves.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
