Loch Lomond's 14-year-old Highland malt whisky is made with unpeated barley on the distillery's Lomond stills, which comprise a traditional pot still base with a large, straight 'coffee can' neck containing rectifying plates capable of producing a new make spirit of much higher strength and purity than a traditional pot still setup.

Loch Lomond's 'straight-neck pot stills' - as they now have to be referred to in order not to fall foul of the SWA's hilariously idiotic rules on what can or cannot be called single malt whisky -  also have an adjustable lyne arm enabling various styles of spirit to be produced from the same still, so more than one type of unpeated spirit can be made.

For the Loch Lomond 14-year-old, this spirit is aged first in first fill ex-bourbon hogsheads before an 18 month finishing period split between first fill and refill lightly toasted virgin Limousin French oak casks.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Coconut, green apple and pear, cinnamon and clove spice, lemon.

Taste: Sweet toffee and vanilla fudge, grapefruit, citrus, pineapple, toasted oak.

Finish: Long with warming oak spice of clove and aniseed.
