The 2019 release of Springbank's heavily-peated Longrow 21-year-old, one of the most sought-after and difficult to acquire Longrows around. Beside a handful of one-off single casks, this 2019 batch was the first proper Longrow 21-year-old since the famous 1974 vintage appeared in 1996, and caused something of a stir on release.
Springbank make much less whisky than their theoretical distillery capacity would allow, and Longrow is only a very small proportion of the distillery's output, so long-aged stock is scarce. This Longrow 21-year-old was a limited edition of 3600 bottles from 60% sherry and 40% bourbon casks and was bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtration.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
