Mac-Talla Pedro Ximenez is a special edition Mac-Talla mystery Islay single malt whisky bottled by Morrison Distillers for the Islay Festival Feis Ile 2023. As you're probably already well aware, Morrison Distillers have a long and storied family history with Islay, so you know this is going to be the good stuff.
Bottled at a robust 54.6% without colouring or chill filtration, Mac-Talla Pedro Ximenez is a vatting of 26 casks, with the greatest influence from the Pedro Ximenez sherry casks used, but only 792 bottles are available for the UK, so we'd advise not hanging around if you want one of these.

Colour: Deep Garnet.
Nose: Maritime smoke, burnt toffee and stewed berries.
Palate: The influence of the PX sherry casks brings a rich, fruity sweetness and added structure to this smoky Islay malt. Expect notes of bonfire, rum and raisin and marmalade.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
