Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 75cl / 43%
A lovely old bottle of Macallan 12-year-old Speyside single malt whisky released at some point around 1990 when all of Macallan's bottlings were from 100% sherry casks.
Bottled at a characterful but easy-drinking 43%, the 12-year-old was the connoisseurs' choice at the time for Macallan fans who didn't want to pay £35 for the 18-year-old, and it's hardly surprising when the quality was this high.
This Macallan 12-year-old was most likely distilled around the mid-to-late 1970s when the distillery's whisky was entering its last great period, with an abundance of hefty, meaty, chewy fruit and sherry oak flavours and balancing clove and cinnamon spices.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
