A bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle 10-year-old 107 Proof wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey. These iconic American whiskeys are made today at the Buffalo Trace distillery in strict accordance with the Van Winkle family mashbill specifications, which insist on using wheat as the secondary grain rather than rye.
Old Rip Van Winkle 10-year-old 107 Proof is the higher strength version of Van Winkle 10-year-old, clocking in at the traditional strength of 53.5%.
The original Van Winkle distillery, Stitzel-Weller, was closed down in 1992 by Diageo forerunners United Distillers, and Buffalo Trace have been making this whiskey under contract for the last couple of decades, during which time the Van Winkle bourbons have finally found the acclaim they always deserved. A must-try whiskey for all bourbon fans.
