Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 50cl / 59.3%
A lovely old 1989 Strathisla 15-year-old bottled by owners Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard) in 2004 at its epic cask strength of 59.3%.
This is an early example of these Chivas Brothers Cask Strength Editions, which are 50cl half litre bottles and usually are only available in very limited numbers at Chivas's distillery gift shops.
For distilleries such as Strathisla, which is so important for Chivas's blended whiskies that official bottlings are few and far between, the Cask Strength Editions like this Strathisla 1989 15-year-old are the only official cask strength versions available, and they're always excellent drams.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
