A lovely old bottle of the classic Royal Lochnagar Selected Reserve in the smart wooden box presentation that was phased out in the mid-Noughties. This particular bottle of Selected Reserve can be easily dated, as the included certificate of authenticity bears the signature of distillery manager Mike Nicholson, who managed Royal Lochnagar from 1998 until his retirement in 2003.

These early Royal Lochnagar Selected Reserve bottlings have plenty of delicious old school sherry influence and are always terrific - don't forget that in the 1990s, before the advent of the Special Release series, this Select Reserve Royal Lochnagar was a flagship whisky, and was for many years the most expensive whisky in Diageo's portfolio at around £150, twice the price of the most expensive Rare Malts bottlings.
