An old bottle of Haig's Dimple 12-year-old De Luxe blended Scotch whisky, bottled at some point in the 1980s, so this will contain whisky distilled in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
Haig is one of the great names in Scotch whisky blending, and introduced their iconic Dimple bottle whisky (known in the USA as Pinch) in 1893. Dimple went on to become one of the UK's best-selling whiskies, and in the early 1970s Haig were the first company to reach sales of a million cases annually for their whiskies, before owners DCL withdrew the brand from domestic markets in 1977 after a spat with the EEC.
John Haig built the Cameronbridge distillery in 1824, and Haig & Co. held the licenses for parent DCL's Glenkinchie, Glenlossie and Mannochmore distilleries, so it's likely that those play a big part in the recipe. This Haig Dimple De Luxe 12-year-old is a great example of a top-end luxury blended Scotch from the 1980s and will be a major treat for blend fans.
