A wonderful old bottle of Bruichladdich Islay single malt whisky bottled by the distillery in the late 1970s. The box for this bottle has a purchase date in 1980 written on it.
This edition of Bruichladdich doesn't seem to have an age statement but was bottled at the deluxe strength of 75 proof (43%) as one of the early official bottlings of the day by former owners Invergordon, who released some really great whiskies from Bruichladdich in the 1970s and 1980s but subsequently let the distillery fall into disrepair. These 1970s bottlings usually tend towards a biscuity, lemony style, often with a zingy minerality.

I really like sherry cask finished whisky. I'm saving this little gem to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. I'm certain it will taste like nectar. Thank you Whisky Shop.
