Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 58% This was a sherry cask of Caol Ila bottled for the 2009 Islay festival. The sherry is not so heavy in this one with the fruit playing a quieter role to some really intense notes of smoky bacon, tar, creosote, old kreel nets, seaweed and old rope. The peat is syrupy and concentrated making the overall impression one of intensity, dryness and superb quality. But it's Caol Ila so what's new?
