Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 50%
A rare old single cask of St. Magdalene 1982, bottled as a 25-year-old without colouring or chill filtration back in 2008 by Douglas Laing for their Old Malt Cask range.
This 25-year-old St. Magdalene 1982 was bottled from a single refill sherry butt cask number #4282 that yielded 378 bottles at the Old Malt Cask standard 50% strength. St. Magdalene is now the pre-eminent lost Lowland distillery and these old Douglas Laing casks from the 1982 vintage - the last full year of production before the distillery closed - are famously excellent.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
