Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 53.0%
A single cask St Magdalene 1982, bottled as a 36-year-old in 2019 without colouring or chill filtration by Gordon & MacPhail for their Private Collection series.
This 36-year-old St. Magdalene 1982 came from a single refill American hogshead Cask #2092 that yielded just 161 bottles at its full natural cask strength of 53%. A great example of late-stage St. Magdalene's gentle grassy side, with a generous helping of mostly orchard fruit (apple, pear, plum etc) balanced by spices, citrus and some lip-smacking exotic fruit hints. Utterly delicious whisky from one of the greatest lost distilleries.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
