Baron de Sigognac is a small independent family-owned grower and distiller located in Bordeneuve in Bas Armagnac, the finest production region in the wider Gascony AOC. Each year, Sigognac's father and son team use their ancient short column still to distill just 50-60 casks of spirit from grapes grown on their family estate.

The spirit from each vintage is aged separately, remaining in French oak casks until it reaches its peak of maturation. It is then transferred to large glass demijohns to mellow further before blending or, in the case of the finest vintages, bottling separately in a very smart wooden gift box.

1992 was a long time ago, but these sturdy armagnacs can survive for many decades in glass after their maturation period in wood has finished, gaining a silky texture while retaining their fresh, fruity, spicy, leathery charms.
