Something very different from Glenallachie - a 15-year-old Panamanian rum blended by master distiller Billy Walker! MacNair's is the boutique spirits brand from Glenallachie, and they're really stretching their wings with these Exploration rums.
MacNair's Exploration 15-year-old spent the majority of its maturation slumbering away in bourbon casks in Panama, before being shipped to Speyside, blended and reracked into fresh ex-bourbon casks, red wine barriques and virgin oak casks before the final assemblage.
As you'd expect from Glenallachie, this very special rum has been bottled at a hearty 46% without any extra colouring or chill filtration. A symphony of exotic fruits.

Colour: Golden Bronze.
Nose: Rich notes of plantains, pears, and almonds, fused with mocha.
Palate: Full of pineapple, mango, and peaches, followed by treacle, coconut, and orange zest.

2 bottles of this lovely single malt were bought as gifts. Sampled a couple of drams from one bottle and it went well above expectations. The quality, integrity, natural colour, cask strength ABV and value-for-money made these bottles 'no-brainers'.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
