Daftmill's 2009-2020 Summer Release will sell out faster than the time it takes me to write this, but here's the info anyway...

An exciting addition to Daftmill's roster, as the distillery spreads its wings with a first-time vatting of bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Daftmill's small batch and single cask Lowland single malts are the hottest property in Scotch whisky right now, but at least it's for a good reason: their whisky is fantastic.

This 2009-2020 release was assembled from three first fill ex-bourbon casks vatted together with a first fill Oloroso sherry butt for a total yield of 1875 bottles at 46%. As the name suggests, all the casks contained whisky distilled in July and August 2009.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Initially quite shy, and this dram benefits from a little breathing time in the glass, those with patience are rewarded with a harmonious balance of fresh tropical fruit reminiscent of mango and cola cubes with thicker aromas of dried figs and cigar boxes.

Palate: Wonderfully spicy giving notes of clootie dumpling and lemon zest developing into something smoother with toffee notes and Fraserburgh butteries.

Finish: Exceptional with the ex-sherry casks really shining through and waves of fresh fiery gingerbread lingering. The first vatting of bourbon and sherry casks from Daftmill shows a new side to the distillery.
