Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 43%
A 1954 Mortlach bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as a single cask back in 2012 after over 58 years of ageing in a First Fill Sherry Butt for what is now known as their Distillery Labels series.
Gordon & MacPhail has a proud history of bottling stunning long aged Mortlachs, and this epic Mortlach 1954 looks to be no exception. Rich and opulent sherry character on top of a myriad of tropical fruit notes, sinewy wood tones and huge notes of old pipe tobacco, rancio and chocolate. Absolutely sublime aged whisky, just pure, decadent pleasure.

Edradour may be the hidden gem of malts but this is a hidden gem in their line up. Dark, complex and satisfying, don't hesitate for a second, this is not to be missed at this price point.
Initial Smokey smell then a hint of pear drop.
Tried it without water and it had a sharp burning sensation on the palate as you would expect at this strength but once you added water the sharpness mellowed and the sweet vanilla taste came through.
