Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Glenury Royal is a special edition of Johnnie Walker Blue Label released in 2019 to celebrate one of the unsung lost distilleries that have played an important role in the huge success of Johnnie Walker Blue.
For this limited edition Ghost and Rare edition, Glenury Royal takes centre stage in the high malt content, with additional malts from Glenkinchie, Glenlossie, Pittyvaich and Glen Elgin, which have been married with old grain whiskies from Cambus and Carsebridge.
The Glenury Royal distillery was closed in 1983, so those particular casks at the heart of this Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare edition must have been at least 35 years old.
The presentation box is showing signs of wear.

Nose: The sumptuous orchard fruits, sweet apple and delicate apricot notes from Glenury Royal are beautifully heightened by creamy toffee and butterscotch from Cambus and Cameronbridge.
Palate: Other rare whiskies from Glen Elgin, Inchgower, Glenlossie, Pittyvaich and Glenkinchie bring waves of vanilla, heather honey and dried fruits.

It’s a fabulous single malt - first discovered in holiday to Scotland. Small batch whisky and is mostly used as a main component of a blended whisky. Lovely smooth taste
The only way to drink an affordable and decent strength Macallan. A strong Sherry influence with a ‘vintage’ feel, akin to a Springbank 21 I drank 25 years ago when you could pick one up without bankrupting yourself
