Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Brave New Spirits 70cl / 51.5%
A 2009 Ledaig heavily peated single malt whisky from the Tobermory distillery on Mull, bottled as a 12-year-old by up-and-coming indie bottlers Brave New Spirits for their Rebels Guerilla Casks range.
The Rebels Guerilla Casks, as the name implies, are deliberately focused away from traditional ex-bourbon and sherry cask types. This limited edition 12-year-old Ledaig 2009 matured in a first-fill Madeira barrique, which was bottled without colouring or chill filtration, yielding 263 bottles at a hearty 51.5%.

Initial Smokey smell then a hint of pear drop.
Tried it without water and it had a sharp burning sensation on the palate as you would expect at this strength but once you added water the sharpness mellowed and the sweet vanilla taste came through.
