A 1980 vintage Springbank bottled by William Cadenhead's as part of their infamous White Label series in the 1990s. These whiskies were notoriously massive, full on, punchy drams often at super high cask strengths. This Springbank is very much in that vein but beautifully so. Big, coastal, peaty and full-on, with bags of fruit, wax and sandalwood notes. You could be forgiven for thinking it had been distilled 10 years earlier. Wonderful, challenging and engaging whisky that reeks of its origins.

Tried it without water and it had a sharp burning sensation on the palate as you would expect at this strength but once you added water the sharpness mellowed and the sweet vanilla taste came through.
