Bottled in 2022, this Cooper's Choice 2014 Campbeltown 7-year-old cask strength blended malt whisky is a teaspooned cask from a famous Campbeltown distillery (a particularly narrow field, but it's probably not the first one you're thinking of).

A teaspooned cask is technically/legally a blended malt even though it's just a cask of single malt whisky with a tiny amount of another distillery's malt whisky added in. In the case of this Cooper's Choice 7-year-old Campbeltown 2014, the whisky has also been finished in a cask that formerly held Banyuls, the delicious French sweet wine.

And yes, you're right - it is a bit weird and hypocritical that when a distillery adds a few millilitres of other malt to a cask it's a blended malt, but when Ardmore or Balvenie, say, mature their whisky in an Islay cask that probably has at least a couple of litres of Laphroaig resting in the wood it's still definitely single malt, honest guv. And in the same vein, what about Banyuls and other wine finishes? If this cask has 10ml of other-Campbeltown-malt in it, and that's enough to make it a blended malt, shouldn't the litre or two of Banyuls wine in the cask change it from whisky into winesky...?
