A single cask 42-year-old Imperial 1979 bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2021 and released in late 2022 as part of the company's launch of the Recollection series which focuses on Scotland's lost distilleries.
This 1979 Imperial 42-year-old came from a single refill American oak hogshead that yielded just 61 bottles at its cask strength of 49.2% and we reckon this is the oldest whisky ever bottled from this excellent distillery, which closed for the last time in 1998 and was later demolished by owners Pernod Ricard to make way for their new Dalmunach distillery.

Nose: Sweet honeycomb notes combine with vanilla custard and a subtle hint of beeswax polish. Cocoa powder develops alongside pecans and soft baked apple.
Palate: Ripe red apples intertwine with clove-studded tangerine. Malted biscuit flavours come to the fore accompanied by chocolate-covered hazelnuts and faint Seville orange zest.
Finish: A full and long finish with black pepper and light herbal tones.
