Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 46%
An old bottle of the Committee Release of Ardbeg Twenty One Islay single malt whisky, this was released for members of the Ardbeg Committee back in 2016.
Bottled without colouring or chill filtration at a hearty drinking strength of 46%, Ardbeg Twenty One was the oldest core range Ardbeg since the demise of the old Lord of the Isles releases, and was a limited edition of 8268 bottles distilled in the dark days of the 1990s, when the dilapidated distillery was on its last legs.
Very little whisky was made at Ardbeg in those years, with workers coming over from then-sister distillery Laphroaig for a few weeks each year. As is so often the case, however, the whisky made in such unfavourable circumstances turned out to be absolutely excellent quality. This 21-year-old Ardbeg is a gem.

A surprise at the price, I found this dram eceeto be smooth with a good smoke finish, marked at 4 stars because although it was easy to follow with another glass or two it just lacked a little body. I shall buy another bottle of this
