Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 43%
An old bottle of Lagavulin 1993 Distillers Edition released in 2009 when these DE bottlings still had declared vintages.
Lagavulin has always been one of the most popular of the Distillers Edition range of whiskies, which are all finished in different types of fortified wines before bottling to add an extra dimension of sweet nutty flavours. This Lagavulin Distillers Edition was finished in casks that previously held Pedro Ximenez sherry, giving a lovely combination of earthy peat smoke and concentrated raisin sweetness.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Intense peat and vanilla. A raisin sweetness checks the smoke. Iodine-edged peat and crisp, roasty malt. Satisfying and enticing.
Body: Full and rich.
Palate: Sweet and luscious; a clear, grassy malt, then the peat attacks, smoke filling the mouth. A very salty tang at one point; the middle offers coffee and vanilla with a glimmer of fruit.
Finish: Incredibly long, even for Islay. Fruit, peat and long-lasting oak. Very chewable and “more-ish”.

2 bottles of this lovely single malt were bought as gifts. Sampled a couple of drams from one bottle and it went well above expectations. The quality, integrity, natural colour, cask strength ABV and value-for-money made these bottles 'no-brainers'.
Present us with more of these quality bottles at fair prices...and we'll buy more.
This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
