Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 56.6%
Young Laphroaig is great on its day but for real star quality you can't beat a Laphroaig with a good bit of age on it. Step forward Douglas Laing, with this rather exciting 21-year-old Laphroaig 1999, bottled from refill sherry butt at cask strength 56.6% in 2021 for their prestige XOP (Extra Old Particular) series.
Smoky whisky + refill sherry cask + 21 years should equal a pretty awesome drop, but sadly we've only got a few bottles of these, so don't tarry if you're keen.

Edradour may be the hidden gem of malts but this is a hidden gem in their line up. Dark, complex and satisfying, don't hesitate for a second, this is not to be missed at this price point.
Initial Smokey smell then a hint of pear drop.
Tried it without water and it had a sharp burning sensation on the palate as you would expect at this strength but once you added water the sharpness mellowed and the sweet vanilla taste came through.
