A wonderful old single cask sherried Port Ellen 1983 28-year-old Islay single malt whisky bottled in 2011 without colouring or chill filtration by Douglas Laing for their Old & Rare Platinum Selection.
This 28-year-old Port Ellen came from a single sherry butt cask that yielded just 227 bottles at its natural cask strength of 54.6%. Douglas Laing had lots of these amazing old Port Ellen sherry casks and the best of them - like these Platinum Selection casks - are absolutely stunning.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
