A splendid old bottle of Dimple blended scotch whisky bottled at some point in the 1970s. These distinctive bottles are a must-try for whisky fans keen to know how top class blended whiskies tasted in the golden age of blends in postwar UK before the rise of single malts.
Although relatively unknown among newly-converted whisky fans here, Dimple and its parent brand Haig were once best-sellers in this country a generation or two ago. Both brands have survived but are now sadly no longer marketed in their home country, concentrating instead on export markets - Dimple is still a major brand in the USA, cropping up regularly in films and on TV shows including Breaking Bad.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
