Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 45.1%
A remarkable 1945 Macallan 68-year-old (not a typo!) bottled in 2013 by Gordon & MacPhail for their Macallan Speymalt range.
An understated masterpiece from Gordon & MacPhail, this 1945 Speymalt was the oldest Macallan ever bottled at the time of release. This 1945 Macallan was aged for 68 long years in fresh sherry hogsheads before being bottled in 2013 at a natural cask strength of 45.1%.
A stunning whisky and a remarkable bottling that reaffirmed G&M's position as the master indie bottlers of some of the most incredible whiskies ever produced. This was not only the oldest Macallan ever bottled but one of the oldest whiskies ever bottled full stop, a real tribute to the power of liquid over packaging. A legendary bottling, and sad to say there will soon be a day where these kinds of ancient Speysides disappear from the market altogether.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
