Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 51.3%
An old bottle of Old Pulteney 40-year-old Highland single malt whisky bottled without colouring or chill filtration. This limited edition bottling appeared in 2012 and remains the oldest official bottling of single malt from what was at the time the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland, though Wolfburn has since stolen that particular honour.
This 2012 small batch Old Pulteney 40-year-old matured in Spanish ex-sherry and American oak ex-bourbon casks and was an edition of just 493 bottles at its sturdy and very promising natural cask strength of 51.3%. This Old Pulteney 40-year-old has a beautiful hand blown bottle capped with a polished Caithness stone stopper, and arrives in a handsome lacquered presentation box.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
