A lovely old bottle of 1956 Glen Grant bottled in 2003 at around 47 years old by Gordon & Macphail for their Distillery Labels series of semi-official bottlings.
These 1950s Glen Grants are bursting with all kinds of fruit, wood spice, vanilla fudge and often honey notes, and despite their great age they are always exceptional drams. This Glen Grant 1956 had nearly fifty years maturing in cask and has now weathered another two decades of bottle maturation, so no doubt it will be stunning stuff.

Edradour may be the hidden gem of malts but this is a hidden gem in their line up. Dark, complex and satisfying, don't hesitate for a second, this is not to be missed at this price point.
Initial Smokey smell then a hint of pear drop.
Tried it without water and it had a sharp burning sensation on the palate as you would expect at this strength but once you added water the sharpness mellowed and the sweet vanilla taste came through.
