A single cask Ardmore 2009 Highland single malt whisky bottled in 2023 by Berry Bros & Rudd without colouring or chill filtration for their Spring 2024 outturn.
This Ardmore 2009 is at least a 13-year-old and after initial maturation in a hogshead it was finished in single cask 709317, a Madeira cask that yielded 268 bottles at its natural cask strength of 54.2%. Ardmore, like many peated whiskies, is usually very drinkable quite young, so this slightly older one will be a treat, especially with what must have been a fairly hefty influence from the Madeira cask, judging by the colour. This will be excellent.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
