This Thomas H. Handy Sazerac rye whiskey was distilled in 2011 and bottled as a 6-year-old in 2017 at its epic natural cask strength of 127.2 US proof / 63.6%. This is a slightly higher strength than the 62.5% the barrels were filled at, thanks to the humid conditions in the warehouses at Buffalo Trace.
Thomas H. Handy Sazerac is named after the New Orleans bartender often credited with popularising the use of rye whiskey in the famous Sazerac cocktail - a strong cocktail at the best of times and hugely potent when made with a rye whiskey of this strength and calibre.
