Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 52.5%
A single cask Glen Grant 1979 30-year-old bottled without colouring or chill filtration by Douglas Laing to mark their 60th Anniversary back in 2009.
This 30-year-old Glen Grant 1979 matured in a sherry cask and was finished in a brandy butt before being bottled at its natural cask strength of 52.5% with an outturn of just 282 bottles. An excellent bottling that still retains lots of classic Glen Grant character while still showing a wonderful mix of aged cognac notes and earthy, dark fruits.

Edradour may be the hidden gem of malts but this is a hidden gem in their line up. Dark, complex and satisfying, don't hesitate for a second, this is not to be missed at this price point.
Initial Smokey smell then a hint of pear drop.
Tried it without water and it had a sharp burning sensation on the palate as you would expect at this strength but once you added water the sharpness mellowed and the sweet vanilla taste came through.
