A lovely late 1970s bottling of Glengoyne 8-year-old.
Glengoyne has a rich history and has stood on the same site since 1833.
It has two types of fermentation, long and very long, and they also have the slowest stills in Scotland. Historically they have only air-dried the barley, resulting in a totally smoke-free whisky.
The quirky thing about Glengoyne is that as it is located on the Lowland/Highland border the spirit is distilled on-site in the Highlands and maturation takes place just over the road in the warehouses that are located in the Lowlands.

This is a heavily sherried dram that tastes of dates and raisins with a touch of honey and vanilla. It’s pretty soft and smooth without water but a few drops seem to thicken it up slightly and add hints of caramel. Absolutely gorgeous.
